ZetaDisplay has been selected by airport media specialist Media Port to build a new digital advertising platform at Copenhagen Airport, with the project projected to launch in 2027. For an airport that saw 32.4 million passengers last year, the deal signals a significant overhaul of ad inventory in one of Northern Europe's busiest travel hubs.

According to a press release, the initial deployment phase will replace most of the airport's existing digital signage inventory with a network of premium units, anchored by seven large-scale hero displays placed at key passenger touchpoints. ZetaDisplay's Engage Suite software will handle content delivery across the entire network.

The release frames the project as combining audience intelligence, premium inventory and programmatic capabilities, aimed at giving advertisers, agencies and the airport itself more value from the space. Ola Sæverås, chief business officer at ZetaDisplay, called it a strategically important project marking a new chapter for the airport's media platform, with ambitions to make it one of the region's most attractive premium media destinations.

What's notably absent

The release does not specify hardware vendors, screen sizes, resolution, or the total number of displays beyond the seven hero units. It also does not detail how programmatic buying will be enabled, whether through a specific ad exchange or demand-side platform integration, or what audience measurement tools will be used to justify the "audience intelligence" claims. Pricing, contract length and the scope of the later deployment phases are also not disclosed.

Why it matters for operators

Airports remain one of the more competitive segments of digital out-of-home, given captive audiences, long dwell times and international traffic that appeals to global brands. A multi-year buildout with a name-brand CMS platform and a small number of large hero displays fits a pattern seen at other major airports, where operators consolidate sprawling screen networks into fewer, more prominent units designed to command premium ad rates rather than maximize screen count.

For digital signage professionals, the project is a reminder that airport media contracts increasingly hinge on software capable of supporting programmatic sales alongside traditional scheduled content, not just on display hardware. ZetaDisplay's win here also extends its footprint in the transit and travel vertical, a segment where CMS vendors compete heavily for long-term, high-visibility contracts.

With the launch still roughly two years out, further details on hardware specifications, measurement partners and full network scope will likely emerge as the project moves from selection to build-out.
