Zetadisplay is setting up shop in Spain and Portugal, naming Álvaro Morales as Country Manager to lead business development across both markets. Morales previously worked at Scala, once part of Stratacache, and according to the company brings an established network of retailer and brand contacts into the role.

For operators and integrators in Iberia, this is another European digital signage vendor formally entering a market that already has established players and a growing retail media conversation. Zetadisplay's pitch is not just screens and content management but a route for retailers to run their own in-store advertising networks rather than renting out that capability to a third party ad network.

The company offers digital signage software, hardware, installation, content management and managed services, with its Engage Suite handling content delivery, audience analytics and retail media functions. That positions Zetadisplay against other CMS and retail media platform vendors that have been courting European grocery and retail chains looking to monetize screen estates they already operate for wayfinding, promotions or digital menu boards.

Retail media is the stated focus

Zetadisplay CEO Daniel Nergård frames the move as a natural step in the company's European growth strategy, saying Iberia is an important market and that Morales' local knowledge and relationships will help establish a stronger presence there. The release does not specify what "stronger presence" means in terms of headcount, offices, or installed base targets in the region.

The Iberia push follows Zetadisplay's earlier acquisition this year of retailmediatools, a retail media infrastructure-as-a-service platform that adds campaign management and ad tech on top of the existing signage business. Combined, the companies says, this lets retailers link online advertising campaigns with in-store digital displays, giving brands a way to reach shoppers across e-commerce, mobile and physical stores. That cross-channel pitch is increasingly common among signage vendors trying to position themselves as retail media infrastructure rather than just screen management software, competing for budget that might otherwise go to dedicated adtech or DOOH networks.

What the announcement does not include is any detail on actual customers, deployments or contracts in Spain or Portugal. Zetadisplay says it is already engaged in commercial discussions in the region but has not disclosed names, project scope or timelines. For now this is a personnel and market-entry announcement rather than evidence of signed business, and readers evaluating Zetadisplay as a vendor in Iberia will want to watch for concrete rollout news before drawing conclusions about its traction there.

The European digital signage provider has appointed former Scala executive Álvaro Morales to lead its business development in Spain and Portugal, with retail media a key focus.

Zetadisplay is expanding its commercial presence in Spain and Portugal, appointing digital signage industry veteran Álvaro Morales as Country Manager for both markets.

Morales previously worked at Scala, formerly part of Stratacache, and brings an established network of contacts among retailers and brands. He will oversee business development in the two countries as Zetadisplay looks to grow its digital signage and in-store retail media business.

The expansion gives Zetadisplay a stronger local presence in a region where digital signage is already established and retailers are increasingly exploring advertising opportunities inside their stores.

Zetadisplay offers digital signage software, hardware, installation, content management and managed services. Its Engage Suite software supports content delivery, audience analytics and retail media applications.

The company is positioning these capabilities as a way for retailers to operate their own in-store advertising networks, generating additional revenue from digital screens while retaining control over their media operations.

“Iberia is an important market for Zetadisplay and a natural next step in our European growth strategy,” says Daniel Nergård, CEO of Zetadisplay.

He adds that Morales’ local industry knowledge and relationships will help the company establish a stronger presence across both markets.

The expansion follows Zetadisplay’s acquisition of retailmediatools earlier this year. The retail media infrastructure-as-a-service platform adds campaign management and advertising technology to the company’s existing digital signage offering.

The combined capabilities are intended to help retailers connect online advertising campaigns with in-store digital displays, giving brands opportunities to reach shoppers across e-commerce, mobile and physical retail environments.

Zetadisplay says it is already engaged in commercial discussions in the region, although it has not disclosed specific customers, projects or deployment plans.
