Vitec to Retire Datapath Brand Name in 2027 After Acquisition Integration

Vitec plans to retire the Datapath corporate brand in 2027, folding the UK video processing specialist fully into its own identity after an acquisition that brought together two suppliers whose gear shows up behind a lot of control rooms and video wall installs.
According to the announcement, existing Datapath product names, technologies and customer support arrangements will stay in place. Its offices remain open and its staff continue as part of Vitec. The change is corporate branding, not a product discontinuation.
The companies spent 2026 aligning operations and systems following the deal. Vitec says the combined portfolio now spans video processing, video walls, AV-over-IP, IPTV distribution, encoding and decoding, KVM systems and control room applications. Datapath, founded in 1982, built its name on real-time video processing, large-scale video walls and mission-critical control room technology, with its products also turning up in commercial AV and creative installations, some of which overlap with digital signage and large-format display deployments.
Vitec frames the combination as complementary: its own strength in video distribution and streaming paired with Datapath's video wall processing and control systems expertise. Nicolas Quesne, Deputy CEO of Vitec, says the two businesses have "strong engineering foundations and highly complementary expertise" and that bringing them together creates a broader, more connected portfolio backed by Vitec's global support. David Griffiths, VP Global Sales at Datapath, says the company will maintain existing customer relationships and support standards through the transition. Both are company statements and should be read as such.
What changes and what does not
For integrators and operators who spec Datapath cards and processors into video walls or control rooms, the practical takeaway is that the hardware and support channels they rely on are not going away, at least according to Vitec's current plan. A new Vitec website is scheduled to launch before the end of 2026 that will bring the Datapath portfolio together with Vitec's existing products and services. Datapath-branded materials will be phased out gradually through 2027 rather than pulled all at once.
What the announcement does not say is how pricing, warranty terms, or distribution agreements might shift once the brand disappears, or whether any product lines will eventually be consolidated or discontinued as the catalogs merge. It also does not address how this affects existing reseller or integrator agreements signed under the Datapath name.
For buyers in the signage and AV integration space, the near-term advice is straightforward: current Datapath products and support should continue as expected, but anyone planning multi-year deployments built around the brand should ask Vitec directly about long-term roadmap and naming before the 2027 switch is complete.

Vitec will retire the Datapath corporate brand next year, bringing its video processing, video wall and control room technologies under a single identity while retaining existing product names and support operations.
Vitec will bring Datapath’s product portfolio under its own brand in 2027, completing the next stage of integration following its acquisition of the UK-based video processing specialist.
The move will see the Datapath corporate name retired, although existing product names, technologies and customer support arrangements will remain unchanged. Datapath’s offices will also stay open, with its employees continuing as part of the wider Vitec organization.
The two companies have spent 2026 aligning their operations and systems following the acquisition. The combined portfolio now covers video processing, video walls, AV-over-IP, IPTV distribution, encoding and decoding, KVM systems and control room applications.
Founded in 1982, Datapath has developed technologies for real-time video processing, large-scale video walls and mission-critical control rooms. Its products are also used in commercial AV installations and creative environments.
Vitec’s existing capabilities in video distribution and streaming complement Datapath’s expertise in video wall processing and control systems, giving the combined company a broader offering for professional AV customers.
“Both businesses have strong engineering foundations and highly complementary expertise,” says Nicolas Quesne, Deputy CEO of Vitec. “Bringing these strengths together creates a broader, more connected portfolio of solutions and services, supported by Vitec’s global presence and customer support capabilities.”
David Griffiths, VP Global Sales at Datapath, says the company will maintain its existing customer relationships and support standards as the transition progresses.
A new Vitec website is scheduled to launch before the end of 2026, bringing the Datapath portfolio together with Vitec’s existing products and services.
Datapath-branded product materials will be progressively replaced throughout the transition into 2027, rather than withdrawn immediately.
For customers and integrators, the principal change will therefore be the corporate identity, with established Datapath products and support arrangements continuing under the Vitec name.
