Viooh has struck a deal with Starlite Media to bring more than 800 digital out-of-home screens at US retail locations onto its programmatic supply-side platform, giving ad buyers self-serve access to large-format displays at shopping centers across more than 70 designated market areas.

According to the companies, the screens generate 650 million monthly impressions. Starlite Media's inventory sits at community shopping centers near grocery stores and other retailers, typically at entrances, along walkways and on exterior walls of the properties. That placement puts the screens in what retail media sellers like to call the shopping journey, catching people on their way in or out rather than inside the store itself.

For operators and media owners watching the programmatic DOOH space, this is another example of a network owner choosing to plug into a third-party SSP rather than build or expand its own direct sales operation exclusively. Viooh, which is backed by JCDecaux, has been steadily adding supply partners across out-of-home categories, and retail-adjacent large format screens are a logical fit alongside its existing street furniture and transit inventory.

The partnership lets advertisers using Viooh's platform select specific locations, set campaign dates and manage spending programmatically, standard functionality for SSP-based DOOH buying at this point. The release does not detail pricing, minimum spend thresholds, or which specific retail chains or shopping center operators host the Starlite screens, so buyers will need to go directly to the platform to see the actual site list and audience data before committing budget.

What the announcement does not say is whether this is an exclusive arrangement or whether Starlite's inventory remains available through other programmatic channels or direct IO sales as well. It also does not specify hardware details such as screen sizes, resolution, or whether the displays support any measurement or attribution tools beyond the impression counts cited.

For screen operators outside this deal, the news is a reminder that programmatic access is becoming table stakes for large-format retail media networks trying to capture national and regional ad budgets that increasingly flow through DSPs rather than direct sales teams. Networks that sit outside major SSPs risk being invisible to a growing share of buyers who default to programmatic first when planning DOOH campaigns.

Gavin Wilson, Global Chief Commercial Officer at Viooh, said the deal gives buyers greater flexibility to connect with retail audiences and drive campaign impact, a claim that is standard for this kind of platform announcement and one that will be tested as advertisers actually run campaigns against the new inventory.
