Uniguest Integrates Hub AV Media Players with Extreme Fabric Attach

Uniguest has integrated its Hub AV media player platform, formerly known as Tripleplay, with Extreme Networks' Fabric Attach technology, letting signage and IPTV players identify themselves automatically on a network rather than requiring manual configuration device by device. For anyone managing screens across a stadium, arena or large campus, that is the part worth noting: fewer hours spent configuring switches and ports every time a display gets added or moved.

According to the companies, edge devices like IP cameras and signage boxes don't normally connect to Fabric networks on their own. Network administrators typically have to configure each one individually, which becomes a real time cost at venues running hundreds or thousands of displays. With this integration, Hub AV players can present themselves to Extreme Fabric Attach and pick up pre-configured network policies automatically, so IT teams can apply rules once and have them extend across the network edge rather than touching every endpoint.

Uniguest frames this as particularly relevant to sports venues, where the same screens might show one type of content for a basketball game and something entirely different for a concert the next night. The integration sits alongside Uniguest's existing Sports Hub product and also applies to its Enterprise Hub offering, meaning hospitality, education and other verticals running Hub AV could see the same benefit.

What the companies claim

Uniguest says the collaboration validates its IPTV and digital signage capabilities running on Extreme Fabric infrastructure, specifically citing high-availability failover, reliable multicast IPTV delivery, and frame-synchronised playback across multiple displays. These are the kind of technical claims that matter for live video and synchronised video walls, but the announcement does not provide any performance figures, failover times, or details on how many displays have been tested in this configuration.

Pankaj Kulkarni of Uniguest and Chuck Brooks of Extreme Networks both emphasised ease of deployment and reduced manual configuration in their comments, with Brooks specifically pointing to venue teams needing to add or relocate screens quickly between different events.

What this means for operators

The practical upshot is aimed at organisations already running, or considering, Extreme's Fabric Connect networking alongside Uniguest's signage and IPTV software. For operators not on Extreme infrastructure, this integration has no direct relevance. The announcement does not mention pricing, availability dates, or whether existing Hub AV and Extreme Fabric customers need to upgrade hardware or firmware to use the new provisioning capability. It also does not specify which Hub AV media player models support the integration or how it compares with similar auto-provisioning features offered by other networking vendors working with signage platforms.

The integration enables media players running on the Hub AV platform to identify themselves to Extreme Fabric Attach, streamlining media player provisioning across connected environments.

Uniguest has teamed up with Extreme Networks to simplify the deployment and management of IPTV and digital signage solutions across large-scale networks.

The integration enables media players running on the Hub AV (formerly Tripleplay) platform to automatically identify themselves to the specialist in AI-powered automation for networking’s Extreme Fabric Attach.

This enables network administrators to apply pre-configured policies and automate device provisioning, eliminating the need for manual, device-by-device network configuration.

Traditional edge devices such as IP cameras and signage do not automatically connect to Fabric networks, requiring time-consuming manual configuration for each individual device.

With Fabric Attach, those devices can be automatically, seamlessly connected to an Extreme Fabric Connect network, simplifying deployment, reducing manual overhead, and extending the benefits of Fabric to the entire network edge.

The collaboration is particularly relevant for stadiums, arenas and large venues, where the reliable delivery of live video, digital signage and venue information across hundreds or thousands of screens is essential. It complements Uniguest’s Sports Hub solution, while also supporting Enterprise Hub and applications across hospitality, education and other connected environments.

The collaboration also validates Hub AV’s IPTV and digital signage capabilities across Extreme Networks infrastructure for customers using Extreme Fabric, including high-availability failover, reliable multicast IPTV delivery, and frame-synchronised media playback across multiple displays.

Pankaj Kulkarni, executive vice-president of product management at Uniguest, said: “Sports venues and enterprises need technology that’s not only powerful and reliable, but also straightforward to deploy and manage.

“By integrating with Extreme Fabric Attach, we’re making it easier for customers to deploy IPTV and digital signage across their networks, while reducing the time and complexity involved in configuring individual devices.

‘Flexible and scalable’ “Combined with the breadth of our platform, this gives organisations a flexible, scalable solution for managing content across their facilities.”

Chuck Brooks, director of ecosystems and alliances at Extreme Networks, added: “An arena may host basketball one night and a sold-out concert the next, with different demands for signage, live video and sponsor content.

“By automating how supported Uniguest media players connect to Extreme Fabric, we help venue teams add or relocate screens with less manual network configuration. That means less time configuring connections and more time creating experiences that engage fans and deliver value for sponsors.”
