TorchMedia Adds 26 Digital Screens to Sydney Light Rail Network

2026-09-24 · via DailyDOOH

TorchMedia has rolled out a digital advertising network across Sydney Light Rail stations on the L1-Inner West line, running from Central to Dulwich Hill. According to the company, 26 screens are now live across 17 Light Rail stops, with the rollout having started in July.

For operators and buyers tracking transit media in Australia, this adds a station-based digital layer to what has been primarily a vehicle-wrap and vehicle-interior business for TorchMedia. The company says it has represented advertising on the Sydney Light Rail since 2015, with its existing offering covering exterior and interior formats, including full wraps, across 76 Light Rail vehicles on the CBD South East and Inner West lines.

TorchMedia describes itself as Australia's largest premium transit media solutions supplier. Aaron Morton, the company's Head of Sales, said Sydney's Inner West is known for affluent audiences, diverse communities and rich culture, and that the ability to target these audiences specifically is a win for advertisers. Morton said the new network, combined with TorchMedia's existing Parramatta Light Rail and Sydney Metro portfolios, gives the company both high-impact broadcast formats and localised, hyper-targeted messaging across what he called some of Greater Sydney's highest-growth corridors.

Launch partners on the new station network include investing platform Stake, Western Sydney University, and gift card provider Giftzzy. Fiona Verghese, Head of Brand and Marketing Australia and New Zealand at EPay Australia, said the company was excited to bring Giftzzy Card to Australia and saw the network as an opportunity to introduce the product to Sydney communities in a visible way.

TorchMedia cites Transport for NSW Open Data figures showing more than 8 million trips were taken on the L1 Dulwich Hill line in 2025, with 16 dedicated light rail vehicles servicing that route. The line is set to interchange with the Sydney Metro at Dulwich Hill once construction there is completed later this year, which would extend the reach of any advertising placed along the corridor.

The announcement does not give screen specifications, hardware or software vendors, loop length, or measurement methodology for the new network, details that agencies and advertisers evaluating the inventory would typically want. It also does not disclose commercial terms with launch partners or say whether further stations are planned beyond the current 17 stops. For an industry watching consolidation and expansion in Australian out-of-home, the move signals continued investment in transit as a growth category even as TorchMedia's core business remains vehicle-based formats.
