SIA Interactive has integrated its Dex Suite digital signage platform with Novastar's Taurus multimedia controllers, allowing LED display operators to run content management and remote maintenance tools directly on the controller rather than on a separate media player. The integration was developed with technical support from Novastar.

For operators running LED video walls, this removes a line item from the hardware stack. Instead of pairing a Taurus controller with an external player to handle content and playback, Dex Suite runs on the controller itself using Novastar's standard firmware. SIA Interactive, based in Barcelona, says the controller effectively becomes the signage player.

The Barcelona company has confirmed compatibility with the Taurus TB series: TB1, TB1-4G, TB20 Plus, TB30, TB40, TB50 and TB60. That covers a fairly wide range of Novastar's controller lineup, from entry-level to higher-capacity units, which suggests SIA is aiming the integration at installations of varying scale rather than a single product tier.

What operators get

Through Dex Suite, operators can reboot controllers remotely, pull screenshots from the field and push application updates without a truck roll. For anyone managing LED installs across multiple sites, that's the practical selling point: fewer site visits for routine checks and software pushes. The announcement does not specify response times, uptime figures or how many sites the integration has already been deployed on, so those claims remain to be tested in the field.

The integration also changes the pitch resellers and integrators can make. Rather than bundling an LED display, a controller and a separate media player with its own management software, they can now offer the controller and Dex Suite as a single package. That consolidation plays into a broader industry trend of pushing compute onto controllers and SoCs rather than bolting on external boxes, something other signage and display vendors have been doing on the flat-panel side for years. Applying it to LED walls, which have historically needed more dedicated processing hardware, is a logical next step but not a novel one industry-wide.

SIA says a second development phase is already underway, which will extend control to the displays themselves, including remote brightness adjustment. No timeline was given for that rollout.

Dex Suite is SIA Interactive's broader software ecosystem, built around DEX Manager for content scheduling and distribution, alongside modules for retail media, music and self-ordering kiosks. The company says it is expanding its reseller network across EMEA, and frames the Novastar integration as part of that push into markets where LED video walls are common but dedicated media players add cost and complexity to installs.

The integration allows LED displays to run SIA's digital signage platform without an external media player, reducing hardware requirements and enabling remote management.

LED display operators using Novastar Taurus multimedia controllers can now manage content and perform remote maintenance through SIA Interactive’s Dex Suite platform, following an integration developed with technical support from Novastar.

The Barcelona-based digital signage software company has made its platform compatible with the Taurus TB series, including the TB1, TB1-4G, TB20 Plus, TB30, TB40, TB50 and TB60.

Instead of needing a separate media player, Dex Suite runs directly on the Taurus controller using Novastar’s standard firmware. The controller effectively becomes the digital signage player, reducing the amount of hardware needed for each LED installation.

Through Dex Suite, operators can remotely reboot controllers, capture screenshots and update the application without visiting the installation site.

The integration also lets resellers and integrators offer LED display systems with content management and remote support through a single platform.

“With this integration, the Taurus controller becomes the Dex Suite player,” said Àlex Portella, Director at SIA Interactive Europe.

SIA is already working on a second development phase that will expand control over the LED displays themselves, including remote brightness adjustments.

Dex Suite is SIA Interactive’s digital signage ecosystem, incorporating DEX Manager for content management alongside applications for retail media, music, self-ordering and other digital experiences.

The company is expanding its reseller network across EMEA, where the integration offers another way to deploy and manage LED displays without dedicated external playback hardware.
