Samsung VXT Adds Ad Monetization Layer via Smartify Partnership
2026-08-24 · via DailyDOOH
Samsung Electronics America and Smartify Media have struck a partnership that lets owners of Samsung commercial displays sell ad space on their screens through Smartify's advertising marketplace, without buying new hardware or media players. The product is called Samsung VXT Ads, Powered by Smartify, and it is built directly into Samsung's VXT cloud content management and device management platform.
For operators, the pitch is straightforward: a screen that is already running a business's own content, in a lobby, storefront, or waiting room, can also carry paid advertising and generate what Samsung and Smartify call passive revenue, while the operator keeps control of its own scheduling and content. According to the release, there is no additional cost, no new media players, and no software installation required to participate. Samsung says the integration has already begun rolling out and that Samsung VXT-powered displays are actively running ads through Smartify's network.
Smartify describes itself as one of the fastest-growing urban and retail media networks in North America, operating across more than 40 U.S. markets and generating what it calls billions of monthly impressions from storefronts, shopping centers and other consumer environments. Ad inventory is filled through Smartify's programmatic infrastructure, direct advertiser relationships, and a localized marketplace, according to the companies.
What this means for operators
This is another entry in the trend of CMS platforms doubling as ad sales channels, pushing digital signage further into retail media territory. Rather than requiring a business to sign up separately with a network operator or install a competing ad-insertion box, Samsung is folding the monetization layer into VXT itself. That lowers the barrier for smaller multi-location operators, such as restaurants, gyms, auto service centers, and property managers, who may not have had the scale or sales relationships to attract national advertisers on their own.
The announcement does not say what share of ad revenue display owners keep, how much control they have over ad frequency or placement within their content loops, or what categories of advertisers are excluded. It also does not specify hardware requirements beyond running Samsung VXT, or whether the feature is opt-in only for certain Samsung display models.
Joseph Kunigonis, CEO of Smartify, said the partnership creates "a frictionless monetization layer" that turns displays into "connected, revenue-generating digital real estate." Jonathan del Rosario, head of Samsung's Display Solutions Division product team, framed it as reflecting "the growing convergence of digital signage technology and retail media."
Both companies say they expect adoption across retail, commercial real estate, automotive services, hospitality, fitness and restaurant verticals, along with potential cross-promotional marketing opportunities for participating locations.
