Rockbox USA Launches Digital Screen Network in Independent Music Venues
2026-10-15 · via DailyDOOH
Rockbox USA has launched into the US out-of-home market, using this week's #OOHNYC event and the DPAA Global Video Everywhere Summit to announce a national digital screen network built around independent live music venues. For operators and media buyers, this is a new venue category entering programmatic and direct-sold OOH: small and mid-sized music clubs that have not historically been wired for digital advertising at scale.
According to the announcement, Rockbox USA plans to scale over the coming months to 600 digital screens across 150 independent live music venues in 20 US cities. The release does not specify a timeline beyond "coming months," nor does it name which cities or venues are first in line.
The company was founded by Paul Carr and says it is built on three decades of experience operating a similar model in the UK. Rockbox USA frames its US push as a natural extension of that UK business, betting on what it describes as a shared passion for live music and grassroots music culture between the two countries.
Independent venues, not arenas
A notable part of the pitch is venue selection. Rockbox USA says it will target independent clubs, music halls and locally owned venues rather than arenas, stadiums and large corporate entertainment venues. The company describes this segment of the US live music market as traditionally fragmented, and is positioning its network as a way to aggregate that fragmented inventory into a single national OOH platform for advertisers.
Carr is quoted saying the goal is to build "the leading media opportunity for brands to connect with live music culture in the US" while also creating value for the venues themselves. The announcement does not detail what revenue share or other arrangement venues receive for hosting the screens.
Partners and platform
Rockbox USA is building the network in partnership with Marauder, a New York-based music marketing agency the release says has deep relationships across America's independent music communities. Marauder's role appears to be venue recruitment and relationship management, though the announcement does not spell out the specifics of the partnership.
On the technology side, Broadsign will power content and ad serving across the network. That gives Rockbox USA a known, established CMS and ad-serving backbone rather than a custom-built platform, which should make it easier to plug into existing programmatic DOOH buying systems that already support Broadsign.
What the announcement does not say is anything about screen specifications, hardware vendors, installation costs, or how ad inventory will be sold, whether through direct sales, programmatic exchanges, or both. Those details will matter to advertisers and venue owners evaluating whether to sign on once the network starts rolling out city by city.

Rockbox USA used #OOHNYC and the DPAA Global Video Everywhere Summit this week to officially launch into the U.S. out-of-home market, with plans to build a national digital screen network across the country’s independent music venues.
Rockbox USA will scale over the coming months to 600 digital screens across 150 independent live music venues in 20 U.S. cities.
Founded by Paul Carr , Rockbox USA builds on three decades of experience and success with the model in the UK. Its expansion into the U.S. is a natural progression between two countries with a shared passion for live music and a rich grassroots music culture. Rockbox USA will focus on independent clubs, music halls and locally owned venues rather than arenas, stadiums and large corporate entertainment venues – creating a national OOH platform with a traditionally fragmented part of the U.S. live music market.
Paul Carr told us “The UK and the U.S. share an incredible passion for live music. We’ve seen through our experience in the UK how powerful these environments can be for advertisers, so bringing Rockbox USA to the U.S. is a natural progression. Our ambition is to build the leading media opportunity for brands to connect with live music culture in the U.S. – creating value for advertisers while supporting the independent venues where music culture starts.”
