PMA Research: Pro AV Display Sales Rebound in September, Up 35% YoY

2026-10-29 · via DailyDOOH

PMA Research has released its latest monthly sell-through tracking report covering large-format flat panel displays, 32 inches and up, sold through North American Pro AV dealers and AV/IT distributors. For anyone buying or specifying commercial displays, the numbers point to a market that cooled briefly over the summer and is now picking back up.

According to PMA Research, Pro AV dealer unit sales rose 16% in September compared to August, following what the report describes as a pronounced dip in August. Year over year, unit sales in that channel were up 35%. The firm says falling average prices helped drive volume, though revenue growth did not keep pace with unit growth as a result. Year to date, unit volumes through the Pro AV dealer channel are up 11% for the first three quarters of 2026, PMA Research says.

Consumer creep into commercial

One detail worth flagging for signage operators: PMA Research says the best-selling model in the Pro AV channel in September was a 50-inch consumer TV, not a commercial-grade panel. The report frames this as evidence that Pro AV dealers are increasingly selling into "lite-commercial" and residential, or resimercial, markets to supplement their core commercial business. That matters for integrators and operators watching warranty terms and duty cycles, since consumer sets are not built for always-on signage use the way commercial panels are, even if they are cheaper to move.

The distribution channel told a similar story. PMA Research's September 2026 Flat Panel Distributor Tracking report found unit sales, which had been flattening in recent months, rising again, with single-digit growth in both units and revenue for large-format displays over 32 inches compared to August. Consumer display sales in distribution also rebounded, with 65-inch now the most popular size, which PMA attributes partly to lower average prices and continued resimercial demand.

Desktop monitors 32 inches and larger regained ground too, with sell-through volumes up 12% both month over month and year over year, per the report. Professional display unit sales and revenue through distribution were up by single digits month over month. The standout category, according to PMA Research, was All-in-One DVLED, where unit sales were up 45% year over year, suggesting continued appetite for direct-view LED among buyers looking to skip traditional LCD video walls.

The release does not break out specific dollar figures, average price points, or individual vendor market share, so it is not possible to say from this report alone which manufacturers are driving the DVLED growth or how much prices have actually fallen. PMA Research says its monthly channel tracking reports are intended to give dealers, distributors, and integrators ongoing visibility into product and channel trends across the U.S. commercial display market.

Latest PMA Research Flat Panel Tracking Report

PMA Research have published their latest sell-through tracking reports on large-format (32-inch and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading North American Pro AV Dealers and AV/IT Distributors who typically serve commercial markets.

In the Pro AV channel, September market results registered a solid uptick in unit sales. After a pronounced dip in August, unit sales rebounded 16% among Pro AV Dealers. Even better, the year over year unit performance was up 35%. The increased demand was aided by falling prices, which meant September revenues did not keep pa

In PMA’s September Pro AV channel tracking, the year-to-date trends point to an encouraging sign of overall growth for display sales among dealers. Unit volumes have reason 11% during the first three quarters of this year.

Also noteworthy for the Pro AV channel is the fact that September’s best-selling model was a 50-inch Consumer TV, highlighting a continued push by Pro AV dealers to move into the lite-commercial and residential markets to bolster business. PMA’s September 2026 Flat Panel Distributor Tracking report also revealed that unit sales, which have been levelling off in recent months, are on the rise. Large-format flat panel displays, over 32-inches, grew by single-digits in September when compared to August. This was true for revenues as well.

There were interesting trends of note in the September tracking for the Distribution channel. Consumer display sales rebounded a bit with the most popular screen size now being 65-inches. This was likely fueled by a drop in average prices for consumer-grade displays. This also speaks to the growing interest in resimercial markets. Desktop monitors (32″ and larger) regained ground in September, with sell through volumes rising 12% both month-over-month and year-over-year. Looking specifically at Professional displays, September unit sales and revenues through Distribution were also up by single-digits on a month-over-month basis. Unit sales of All-in-One DVLED displays were a bright spot, with unit sales up by 45% from this time last year.

PMA’s monthly Flat Panel Channel Tracking reports offer timely sell-through data and analysis on unit sales and market trends of large-format displays sold by leading U.S. AV/IT Distributors and Pro AV Dealers and Systems Integrators and are ideal for tracking product and channel trends.
