PATTISON Outdoor Adds 20 Digital Displays to Montreal BIXI Network

2026-08-27 · via DailyDOOH

PATTISON Outdoor Advertising has added 20 digital displays to the BIXI bike-share network in Montreal, expanding a DOOH inventory that already includes more than 1,000 static advertising panels across the city, according to the company.

The displays are installed at BIXI stations in downtown Montreal and in several high-traffic neighbourhoods. PATTISON says the advertising column was designed and developed by the BIXI design team specifically for bike-share stations, and describes it as one of the first digital advertising displays built for that use case.

For operators and media owners watching the DOOH space, this is a notable move into micromobility infrastructure as an ad venue. BIXI is a large network by North American standards: the company cites more than 11,000 bikes and nearly 1,000 stations across Greater Montreal, with more than one in four Montrealers reportedly using the service in 2024. That scale gives PATTISON a recurring, high-frequency audience of commuters and casual riders at fixed, predictable locations, which is the kind of inventory DOOH buyers tend to value for reach and dwell time.

What the announcement does not say is more telling for anyone trying to size up the deal. There is no mention of the screen specifications, brightness, size, or whether the displays are solar powered or connected to grid power, which matters for a network of outdoor kiosks spread across a city. There is no detail on the content management or ad-serving platform running the network, nor any word on measurement or audience verification tools that advertisers would need to justify spend against other Montreal out-of-home options. Pricing and the commercial terms of the BIXI partnership are also absent.

Dominic Loporcaro, PATTISON's Vice President and General Manager for the Eastern Region, frames the launch as an evolution of the company's BIXI media offering, positioning the digital units as a complement to its existing static panel network rather than a replacement. Pierre-Luc Marier of BIXI frames the column design as an integration play, emphasizing that the hardware was built to fit the look of BIXI stations rather than being a generic digital panel bolted onto existing furniture.

PATTISON positions itself as a partner to 38 transit authorities across Canada and calls itself the leading provider of advertising solutions for sustainable mobility. The BIXI deal extends that transit and mobility footprint into bike-share infrastructure specifically, a segment that has seen relatively little digital signage investment compared to bus shelters, transit stations, and street furniture. For competitors in the Canadian OOH market, it signals that bike-share networks in major cities may become a contested category for digital ad placements going forward.
