Palm Beach Atlantic University Adds Two LED Video Walls to Business School

Palm Beach Atlantic University has installed two large-format dvLED video walls from SNA Displays in its Rinker College of Business, adding more than 28 million pixels to the school's new business hall. The project points to a steady trend of fine-pitch LED moving into higher education spaces that used to rely on projectors or standard flat panels.

The installation sits in the Marsha and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall, a six-story building in West Palm Beach, Florida. AV integrator AV-Worx handled the digital upgrade and carried out the LED installation.

The larger of the two displays is in the building's lobby, spanning two floors at 26 feet 6 inches tall by 31 feet 5 inches wide, or about 835 square feet of LED. It uses a 1.9mm pixel pitch and delivers a resolution of 4,212 by 4,992 pixels. According to SNA Displays, it is meant to work as both a visual centerpiece for the building and a backdrop for campus events, which suggests it will run a mix of branding content, event graphics and possibly live camera feeds.

The second display is in the 300-seat Titus Lecture Hall, measuring 10 feet 4 inches tall by 18 feet 4 inches wide with a tighter 1.5mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 2,016 by 3,584 pixels. A finer pitch in a lecture hall setting makes sense given closer viewing distances for students and lecturers.

For operators and integrators watching the education market, this project is another data point in the shift toward dvLED as a default rather than a premium option in new campus construction. SNA Displays' sales director Richard Hill said fine-pitch LED is becoming close to a requirement in new or renovated higher-education spaces, given the need to support classroom instruction, guest lectures, presentations and events on the same canvas. That is a vendor's framing of the market, but it lines up with what has been reported elsewhere: universities want displays flexible enough to switch between academic content and marketing or event use without swapping hardware.

Palm Beach Atlantic University has upgraded its Rinker College of Business with two large-format LED video walls from SNA Displays, including a lobby display measuring 26 feet 6 inches (8.08 meters) tall by 31 feet 5 inches (9.58 meters) wide.

The installation is located in the Marsha and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall, the six-story home of the university’s business school in West Palm Beach, Florida. AV integrator AV-Worx oversaw the digital upgrade and performed the LED installation.

The lobby display features a 1.9 mm pixel pitch across approximately 835 square feet (77.6 square meters) of digital canvas. Spanning two floors, it delivers a resolution of 4,212 × 4,992 pixels and is intended to serve as both a visual centerpiece for the building and a backdrop for campus events.

A second installation in the 300-seat Titus Lecture Hall measures 10 feet 4 inches (3.15 meters) tall by 18 feet 4 inches (5.59 meters) wide with a 1.5 mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 2,016 × 3,584 pixels. Combined, the two displays process more than 28 million pixels.

According to SNA Displays, fine-pitch LED technology is becoming an increasingly common choice for higher education facilities, where the same display can support classroom instruction, guest lectures, presentations and campus events.

“Higher education is increasingly adopting large-format LED video technology with tight pixel pitches for crystal clear imagery,” said Richard Hill, Sales Director at SNA Displays. “The utility and versatility of dvLED makes it very nearly a requirement in new designs or renovated spaces at higher education campuses where it is essential to be able to visually communicate a wide variety of material.”
