Private equity firm One Equity Partners has begun the process of acquiring Nexora, the parent company of Almo Pro AV, one of the larger Pro AV distributors serving the digital signage and commercial display market in North America. According to a press release, the transition to new ownership is expected to be completed by March 2027.

For integrators and resellers who buy displays, media players and mounting hardware through Almo Pro AV, the deal is worth tracking even though it will not change day-to-day operations right away. Distributors like Almo sit between manufacturers and the installers and operators who actually put screens on walls, and ownership changes at that level can eventually affect pricing, inventory, financing terms and which manufacturer lines get pushed.

The press release frames the deal as continuity rather than disruption. Dan Smith, executive vice president of Almo Pro AV, said the partnership "doesn't change our direction" and instead "accelerates where we're already headed." He said vendor partners and customers can expect the same relationships and support they have now, combined with what he described as a larger platform backed by OEP's experience growing technology and distribution businesses.

Nexora's existing management team will stay in place, which suggests the deal is structured as a financial investment rather than an operational overhaul. The release says the agreement supports a larger investment in technology and growth across North America and Europe, and that it creates an opportunity to connect manufacturers and customers across Nexora's businesses.

What the announcement leaves out

The release does not disclose the purchase price or deal terms. It also does not name which Nexora businesses beyond Almo Pro AV are affected, what specific technology investments are planned, or how the roughly 16-month timeline to close will play out. There is no detail on whether any changes are planned to Almo Pro AV's digital tools, logistics network or vendor roster, areas the release only gestures at with the phrase "digital tools and services that expand market reach."

For operators and integrators who rely on Almo as a supply channel for signage hardware, the practical questions, pricing, product availability and support levels, remain unanswered for now. One Equity Partners' track record with other distribution and technology acquisitions may offer some signal, but the release gives no specifics on how this deal compares to the firm's other holdings or what changes customers should expect once the sale closes.
