Omdia: LED Display Market to Grow 11.6% Annually Through 2030
2026-10-20 · via AV Magazine

Analyst firm Omdia is forecasting an 11.6% compound annual growth rate in global LED video display revenue between 2026 and 2030, even as manufacturers deal with rising component costs, trade tensions and soft demand in some traditional segments. For buyers and installers of large-format LED, the data points to pricier but more capable product lines becoming the norm rather than a return to cheap commodity panels.
According to Omdia's LED Video Display Market Tracker for the second quarter of 2026, global shipments rose 3.3% year on year in Q2, but revenue actually fell 0.2%. That gap matters for anyone specifying LED today: volume is up, average prices are under pressure, and vendors are responding by pushing upmarket rather than competing purely on cost.
Omdia says the near-term cost pressure stems from a string of price increases since late 2025 from suppliers of LED chips, driver ICs, printed circuit boards and power supplies. The firm's analyst Cindy Liu says vendors are reassessing product portfolios in response, prioritising mid-range and premium products and investing in energy efficiency and reliability rather than chasing volume at the low end.
On manufacturing, the report cites Daktronics' new facility in Saltillo, Mexico, as an example of vendors regionalising production to manage tariffs and serve customers closer to home. Omdia frames this as part of a broader shift, with manufacturers expanding capacity across Asia, Oceania, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and eastern Europe to capture growth tied to urbanisation and infrastructure spending in those regions.
For operators, the more concrete numbers are the application-level forecasts. Omdia projects corporate signage will grow at a 14.7% CAGR through 2030, outpacing public space applications at 10.0%. That suggests boardrooms, lobbies and corporate campuses are becoming a bigger growth driver for LED suppliers than municipal and transit-style public installations, which is worth noting for integrators deciding where to focus sales effort.
The report also points to technology trends expanding where LED gets used beyond standard video walls: microLED, chip-on-board packaging, high-precision seamless splicing and interactive displays. Omdia specifically flags curved and spherical installations for planetariums and science centres, plus multi-sided LED CAVE systems for museums, corporate exhibitions, simulation and training. These are cited as building momentum that should strengthen market growth from 2027 onward, though the announcement does not give separate revenue figures for these niche categories.
What the release does not address is pricing for end customers, or how long the current component cost increases are expected to last. It also does not name other manufacturers beyond Daktronics making similar regional investments, so it is unclear how widespread that strategy is across the industry at this point.

Higher-value products and regional manufacturing will drive 11.6% compound annual growth from 2026 to 2030 despite current component cost increases, trade tensions and weak demand.
Despite short-term challenges, the global LED video display market is forecast to post an 11.6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in revenue between 2026 and 2030.
Although the market faces slower growth amid rising component costs, trade tensions and weaker demand in traditional applications, according to Omdia, emerging applications, regional manufacturing expansion and a shift towards higher-value products will lead to growth.
Omdia’s LED Video Display Market Tracker – 2Q26 has revealed that global shipments increased 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026, compared with last year, while revenue declined 0.2%.
Near-term challenges Since late 2025, manufacturers have faced significant increases in component costs, with suppliers of LED chips, driver ICs, printed circuit boards and power supplies having implemented successive price adjustments.
Despite near-term challenges, emerging markets across Asia, Oceania, Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East, Africa and eastern Europe present significant growth opportunities.
Urbanisation, infrastructure investment, energy-efficiency initiatives and growing adoption of digital display technologies are encouraging manufacturers to expand regional production and diversify supply chains.
The report cites Daktronics, which is investing in a new manufacturing facility in Saltillo, Mexico, with shipments expected to provide greater flexibility in managing production costs, tariff and regional customer requirements.
Technological advances in microLED, chip-on-board packaging, high-precision seamless splicing and interactive technology, meanwhile, are expanding the role of LED video displays beyond traditional applications.
More-sophisticated display solutions Immersive entertainment, cultural attractions, virtual production, sports venues and commercial environments are creating opportunities for manufacturers to deliver more-sophisticated display solutions, according to Omdia.
Curved and spherical LED installations, for example, are facilitating immersive visual experiences in planetariums, science centres and cultural attractions, while multi-sided LED CAVE systems provide immersive environments for applications ranging from museums and corporate exhibitions to simulation and training.
These developments are expected to support stronger market growth from 2027 onwards.
The tracker forecasts that Omdia forecasts between 2026 and 2030, corporate signage and public space applications will post CAGRs of 14.7% and 10.0% respectively.
Cindy Liu, senior analyst at Omdia, said: “Rising prices and changing market conditions are prompting vendors to reassess their product portfolios and focus on higher-value opportunities.
“Vendors are increasingly prioritising mid-range and premium products, improving energy efficiency and reliability, while expanding production capacity in areas where they have competitive advantages.”
