McCann Systems, Nanolumens to Unveil New Penn Station Video Wall

2026-10-07 · via DailyDOOH

McCann Systems and Nanolumens are launching a new digital video wall installation at New York's Penn Station, with a free public event planned to mark the debut as part of Out of Home New York Week.

The companies are hosting a "Welcome to New York" kickoff event on Tuesday, October 13, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Starbucks in the Rotunda at Penn Station, 393 7th Ave. The event is organized in partnership with the Digital Signage Federation and SEGD, the Society for Experiential Graphic Design. Attendance is free but RSVP is required because space is limited, according to the announcement.

For operators and integrators, the notable detail here is the venue. Penn Station is one of the busiest transit hubs in the world, and any large-format digital install there carries weight as a reference project for the industry. According to the announcement, the team behind the project will speak at the event about design, technology considerations, implementation, and what impact the new video wall is expected to have on the digital out of home market in Manhattan.

What the announcement does not say is almost as telling as what it does. There is no mention of screen size, resolution, pixel pitch, content management software, or who is selling ad inventory on the display. Readers looking for hard specs on the Nanolumens hardware or the McCann Systems integration work will need to wait for further detail, presumably to come out of the event itself or follow-up coverage.

Part of a bigger week

The kickoff event opens the 15th annual Out of Home New York Week, running October 12 to 16, 2026. The week mixes free and paid programming, including conferences, VIP dinners, showcases, cocktail events, open houses, breakfast debates, and tours across the city's OOH and DOOH scene.

Among the larger events during the week are the DPAA Global Summit, the ARF Creative Effectiveness Conference and David Ogilvy Awards Dinner, the OAAA's OBIE Awards, and Sony's Professional Display Solutions AV Tech Expo. For anyone tracking the commercial display and DOOH side of the industry, that Sony AV Tech Expo in particular is likely to draw hardware-focused coverage alongside the Penn Station launch.

For digital signage professionals who cannot attend in person, the Penn Station installation is worth watching as a test case for how large transit-environment displays get positioned, operated, and monetized in a dense urban market. The scale of the venue alone, with its constant churn of commuters and travelers, makes it a meaningful proving ground for any new digital out of home asset.
