Dubai Mall has installed roughly 1,100 square metres of LED displays from INFiLED, built around the company's MVmk2 Series panels and delivered by Dubai-based integrator Blue Rhine Industries. The project matters to operators because it applies outdoor-spec LED inside a building, a workaround for a problem many indoor venues with heavy glazing quietly struggle with: daylight washing out standard indoor screens.

According to the release, the network spans about 50 indoor and outdoor displays across one of the world's largest malls, all running on a single display platform rather than a mix of products from different vendors. That single-platform approach is significant for operators managing large venue networks, since it simplifies spares, calibration and content management compared with running separate indoor and outdoor product lines side by side.

Why outdoor panels indoors

Dubai Mall's circulation areas are lit through large skylights and glass facades, which the release says pushes ambient light near those zones closer to outdoor conditions than a typical controlled indoor environment. INFiLED's Middle East DOOH sales manager, Hatem Malhas, is quoted saying the indoor/outdoor distinction in a building like this is less about weather resistance and more about colour and brightness performance against competing daylight.

The MVmk2 panels run at 4,500 nits, with INFiLED citing high contrast and colour uniformity as reasons for the selection. A 3,840Hz refresh rate is also highlighted as keeping the displays clean when filmed or photographed, relevant given the release's characterization of Dubai Mall as one of the most photographed buildings in the region. The announcement does not specify what brightness level a comparable standard indoor product would have offered, so readers cannot judge from this release alone how much of a gap the MVmk2 is closing.

The larger installations include screens measuring 20m by 5m and 20m by 4m, plus a pair of 4m by 6m displays, all at 3.9mm pixel pitch and running 24/7. Content across the network is managed through what the release calls a centralised platform, though no CMS vendor or product name is given.

Build and maintenance claims

INFiLED says the MVmk2 uses a reinforced two-layer H-frame intended to hold cabinet flatness and pixel alignment over years of continuous operation, along with IP65 protection on front and rear faces. The cabinet is described as a slim aluminium design suited to tight parapet mounting and flush-frame facade work, with front and rear access allowing tool-free module replacement, a maintenance detail that matters for a venue running displays around the clock.

The company also claims the MVmk2 consumes 16% less energy than previous MV-series models, though the release does not state the baseline power draw or provide independent verification of that figure. Pricing, installation timeline and the CMS platform used to run the network are not disclosed in the announcement.

Blue Rhine Industries delivered around 50 indoor and outdoor displays featuring 4,500-nit MVmk2 outdoor LED panels to keep content legible beneath skylights and beside glass facades.

Dubai Mall as been fitted with a DOOH network comprising about 1,100 sq metres of INFiLED’s MVmk2 Series LED displays.

Delivered by Dubai-based integrator Blue Rhine Industries, the network of about 50 indoor and outdoor displays gives t he world’s second-largest mall a scalable advertising system built on a single display platform.

The MVmk2 range is engineered as an outdoor product, which was a major factor in its choice for the project.

Natural lighting Much of Dubai Mall’s circulation space is lit through extensive skylights and large glass facades. Screens placed near these sources face ambient light levels more akin to outdoor conditions than to the controlled interior environments for which a standard indoor display is designed.

The MVmk2 was selected specifically to hold content legibility against the natural light, running at 4,500 nits with high contrast and colour uniformity. The 3,840Hz refresh rate also keeps the displays clean on camera, as the mall is one of the most photographed buildings in the Middle East.

Hatem Malhas, INFiLED’s sales manager for DOOH in the Middle East, says: “People assume the indoor and outdoor distinction is about weather, but in a building like this, it is really about colours and brightness.

“Dubai Mall has enormous glazed areas and skylights, so a screen near one of them is competing with daylight, even though it sits indoors.

“Specifying an outdoor series was the straightforward engineering answer to that, and it means the network performs consistently whether a display is in a daylit atrium or an external position.”

The mall’s larger installations include screens measuring 20m by 5m and 20m by 4 metres, and a pair of 4m by 6m displays. Each one features a 3.9mm pixel pitch and operates 24/7, with content across the network managed through a centralised platform.

Designed for continuous operation The MVmk2 is designed for continuous operation, with a reinforced two-layer H-frame that maintains cabinet flatness and pixel alignment over years of service. It also features IP65 protection on both its front and rear faces.

A slim aluminium cabinet suits tight parapet mounting and flush-frame facade designs where cabinet depth is restricted. Front and rear access allows a module to be replaced without tools.

The MVmk2’s energy consumption, meanwhile, is 16% lower than previous MV models.
