i3Connect Launches Plug-In OPS Module to Refresh Older Interactive Displays

i3Connect has launched a plug-in PC module designed to bring ageing interactive displays back up to date without replacing the hardware. The Studio OPS slides into the standard OPS slot found on compatible displays, including i3Connect's own Laser Sky, Laser Nova and Riva 1 models, and according to the company can update a display's software in minutes.

For schools and businesses running interactive panels, this addresses a familiar problem: screens that still work fine but whose software has stopped receiving updates after five to seven years, becoming slow and a security liability. Rather than replacing the whole unit, operators can swap in the module and get Android 15, ongoing security and firmware updates, and the full i3CONNECT software suite, the company says.

That suite includes i3CONNECT Whiteboard for lessons and meetings, i3CONNECT AllSync for wireless screen sharing (bundled free with Studio OPS), and i3CONNECT Cortex, a remote device management tool aimed at IT administrators who want to manage displays centrally instead of sending someone on-site. All of it runs through i3CONNECT Studio, an interface i3Connect says looks and behaves consistently across its display range.

i3Connect frames this as both a cost and sustainability play. Replacing interactive displays is a significant capital expense for schools and businesses, and the company argues that extending the working life of existing hardware cuts that cost while also reducing the environmental footprint tied to manufacturing new units. The release ties the move to what i3Connect calls its Sustainability by Design and Security by Design approach.

The announcement does not say pricing for Studio OPS, nor does it specify which other manufacturers' displays, if any, might be compatible beyond i3Connect's own range. It also does not detail how long i3Connect commits to supporting the module itself. Studio OPS is set to become available at the end of November 2026.

The i3Connect Studio OPS can bring a display’s software up to date in minutes, providing access to Android 15, regular security and firmware updates, and the complete i3Connect software suite.

i3Connect has launched a plug-in PC module which gives older interactive displays a longer life, bringing their software up to date in minutes.

The i3Connect Studio OPS is aimed at schools and businesses which are replacing interactive displays that still work perfectly but whose software has fallen behind.

This is particularly an issue when software versions stop receiving updates, become slow and turn into a security risk after five to seven years.

Studio OPS slides into the standard OPS slot of compatible displays, including the company’s Laser Sky, Laser Nova and Riva 1.

Once installed, it brings Android 15, regular security and firmware updates, and access to the complete i3CONNECT software suite. This allows schools and businesses to continue using their existing hardware with an up-to-date, secure software environment

Replacing interactive displays represents a significant investment for schools and businesses. By upgrading the software rather than replacing the entire display, Studio OPS helps organisations extend the lifespan of their technology and reduce replacement costs. Teachers and employees can continue using the screens they are familiar with, while benefiting from an updated, secure interface and additional software capabilities.

Studio OPS also unlocks a range of software solutions, all developed in-house at i3Connect.

i3CONNECT Whiteboard : a full-featured whiteboard that gives teachers and business users tools for engaging lessons and meetings.

i3CONNECT AllSync: wireless sharing from any device. AllSync comes free with Studio OPS, providing an easy alternative to older wireless sharing solutions that may no longer be supported.

i3CONNECT Cortex: remote device management that allows IT administrators to manage compatible displays centrally, reducing the need for on-site interventions.

All these solutions run on i3CONNECT Studio, the easy-to-use, customisable interface that looks and works the same on all i3Connect displays, so everyone in the organisation feels at home right away.

Extending the useful life of interactive displays also offers environmental benefits. As manufacturing accounts for a significant share of a display’s environmental footprint, longer product lifespans play an important role in reducing overall impact.

Extending the lifespan of displays already in use with Studio OPS, reflecting i3Connect’s commitment to  Sustainability by Design and Security by Design.

i3Connect Studio OPS will be available at the end of November 2026.
