DPAA Opens Nominations for Leading Women in Digital Media Awards

DPAA has opened nominations for its annual Leading Women in Digital Media Awards, which recognize women working across the digital out-of-home industry. Nominations are open through September 2, according to the organization.
The awards are run through WE.DOOH, DPAA's Women's Empowerment in Digital Out of Home initiative, and nominations are open to women at DPAA member companies. That membership restriction matters for signage and DOOH operators deciding whether colleagues qualify.
Three categories will be awarded this year: Rising Star for emerging female leaders, Unsung Hero for women whose work happens largely behind the scenes but has advanced the DOOH industry, and Vanguard for experienced leaders who have worked to advance both women and the industry.
DPAA President and CEO Barry Frey said the purpose of the awards is to spotlight the contributions of women in the industry and inspire female DPAA members globally, according to the release.
Last year's winners were Joy Hines of Broadsign in the Rising Star category, Izel Castro Roselló of Publicis as Unsung Hero, and Helen Miall, formerly of Viooh, as Vanguard. Those picks give a sense of the mix DPAA has recognized in the past, spanning platform vendors, agencies and network operators.
Recipients this year will be selected by members of the WE.DOOH Advisory Board, DPAA says. Winners will be honored at the DPAA Global Summit on October 13 at Chelsea Piers in New York, an event invidis covered last year.
For digital signage and DOOH professionals, the awards are less about hardware or software news and more about industry visibility and networking. Companies with member staff eligible for nomination may want to act before the September 2 deadline. The announcement does not detail the nomination process beyond pointing to DPAA's website, nor does it specify how many nominees are typically considered per category.
