Directable, a cloud-based digital signage software provider, says it now supports the Amazon Signage Display, a 55-inch 4K screen with an integrated media player, according to a press release.

For operators, the pitch is straightforward: one less box to mount, cable and troubleshoot. The Amazon Signage Display bundles the screen and player into a single unit, which removes the external media player from the hardware stack entirely. Directable's software then handles content management and remote control, turning the display into what the company calls a centrally managed communications platform.

Directable already supports the Amazon Signage Stick, a separate streaming-style media player for signage. Adding the all-in-one display extends that coverage to Amazon's newer hardware line without requiring a different CMS for each device type.

The announcement does not specify pricing, availability dates, or which features of Directable's platform are enabled on the Amazon display versus the Stick. It also does not say whether the integration required custom development work or whether it uses an existing app-based or SDK approach common to smart-display CMS partnerships.

What it means for buyers

All-in-one displays with embedded media players are not new. Samsung, LG and others have sold similar systems for years, usually paired with their own or third-party CMS options. What Amazon brings to this category is its retail and logistics reach, plus a lower price point that has made the Signage Stick popular with smaller operators and franchises looking to avoid the cost of separate media players.

James Bratsanos, Directable's CTO, said in the release that the pairing is meant to simplify deployment, particularly for "franchise organizations and businesses managing large networks of screens." That is a common claim across the CMS market, where ease of onboarding and remote fleet management are the main differentiators once basic playback and scheduling are table stakes.

For an operator evaluating this combination, the practical questions are the ones the release leaves open: total hardware cost including the display, whether Directable's subscription pricing changes for this device class, and what happens to support and warranty if the display and software come from different vendors. Those details would typically surface in Directable's own product documentation or in a direct conversation with the company rather than in the announcement itself.

The move signals that smaller CMS vendors are moving quickly to support Amazon's signage hardware as it gains traction, rather than waiting to see if the product line sticks around.
