Clear Channel Outdoor Wins Ad Concession at Pensacola International Airport
2026-09-17 · via DailyDOOH
Clear Channel Outdoor's Airports Division has been selected to manage the advertising concession at Pensacola International Airport (PNS) in Florida, following a competitive selection process. The airport's advertising program had been run in-house since 2018, after Clear Channel previously held the concession until 2012.
For operators watching the airport DOOH sector, this is a case of a major network operator retaking ground it once held, with a stated plan to invest in new hardware rather than simply refresh what's there. According to the release, Clear Channel will introduce several new formats across the terminal, including branded LED video walls at entryways, security checkpoints and baggage claim, a connected digital concourse network reaching travelers between gates, dining and retail, tension fabric displays, and sponsorship-based charging stations.
The deal covers an airport serving more than 3.1 million passengers annually, according to Clear Channel, and PNS says it is the busiest airport along the Interstate 10 corridor between Jacksonville and New Orleans. The airport currently has 12 gates and 28 nonstop destinations served by American, Delta, United, Southwest, Breeze, Frontier and Contour.
The timing matters. PNS is in the middle of a $165 million terminal expansion that will add five gates and a new concourse, with completion targeted for the first half of 2028, according to the announcement. That means the new ad infrastructure Clear Channel installs now will need to work within a terminal that is about to grow significantly, and it raises an obvious question the release doesn't answer: whether the new screens and video walls are being built with that expansion in mind, or whether a second phase of buildout will follow once the new concourse opens.
The release does not disclose the length of the concession agreement, the value of Clear Channel's investment, or specific screen counts or sizes for the video walls and concourse network. Readers in the CMS and hardware side of the business will also note that no vendor names are mentioned for displays, players or software, so it's unclear what stack will run the new inventory.
For the broader airport DOOH market, this is another example of a legacy out-of-home operator repositioning around large-format digital and amenity-based sponsorship (the charging station tie-in is a now-familiar model) rather than static or in-house managed inventory. Clear Channel's Airports Division frames the deal as part of a broader push to modernize passenger environments across its airport network, though the announcement gives no indication of how many other airports are currently transitioning between in-house and third-party management in a similar way.

Clear Channel Outdoor’s Airports Division, the leading U.S. airport sponsorship and advertising partner, has been selected to manage the advertising concession at Pensacola International Airport (PNS) in Florida.
The agreement gives Clear Channel Outdoor responsibility for delivering a refreshed airport media program that connects brands with more than 3.1 million annual passengers and strengthens the airport’s position as a key commercial gateway for the Gulf Coast region.
Following a competitive selection process, PNS selected Clear Channel Outdoor to lead its advertising program, which has been managed in-house since 2018. Having previously served as the airport advertising concessionaire until 2012, Clear Channel Outdoor will return with a major investment in upgraded infrastructure and new sponsorship inventory. The program is designed to modernize the terminal environment, enhance revenue opportunities, and introduce more dynamic, technology-enabled advertising formats across high-traffic passenger areas.

The new advertising program aligns with PNS’s broader capital investment strategy, including a USD 165 million terminal expansion and new concourse scheduled for completion in the first half of 2028, which will add five gates to the existing 12-gate facility.
“Pensacola International Airport is in the midst of one of the most transformative periods in our history, and every investment we make should reflect the future we’re building,” said Matt Coughlin , Executive Director of Pensacola International Airport. “Clear Channel Outdoor shares that vision by bringing innovative, technology-driven advertising solutions that will elevate the passenger experience while creating meaningful opportunities for businesses to connect with millions of travelers each year.
