Clear Channel Outdoor Completes Sale of Spanish Business for €115M
2026-08-05 · via DailyDOOH
Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings has completed the sale of its Spanish business to Atresmedia Corporación de Medios de Comunicación, according to the company. The deal closes another chapter in Clear Channel's ongoing effort to shed international assets and focus its portfolio.
The purchase price was EUR €115 million, or roughly US$132 million, the company says. Clear Channel notes that final proceeds remain subject to customary post-closing adjustments and the payment of transaction-related fees and expenses, so the actual net amount the company receives will likely be lower than the headline figure.
Clear Channel Outdoor engaged Moelis & Company and Deutsche Bank Securities as financial advisors on the sale. The announcement does not detail what happens to Clear Channel's existing digital and static inventory in Spain, staff, or contracts under Atresmedia's ownership, nor does it say when the deal was first announced or how long the process took.
Why it matters for operators
For digital signage and DOOH professionals, this sale is part of a broader pattern. Clear Channel Outdoor has been divesting non-core international markets for several years as it works to reduce debt and concentrate on its remaining businesses, including its US operations. Spain joins a list of markets where Clear Channel has exited or restructured its ownership position.
For Atresmedia, a Spanish media and broadcasting company, the acquisition extends its reach into out-of-home advertising, giving it physical screen and billboard inventory to pair with its existing television and digital media assets. The announcement does not say whether Atresmedia plans to invest in upgrading or expanding the digital screen network it has acquired, or whether it intends to integrate the inventory with its own ad sales operations.
The deal is a reminder that ownership of DOOH networks continues to shift as media companies and outdoor specialists reassess which markets are worth operating directly versus selling off. Screen operators and advertisers working in the Spanish market should watch for signals from Atresmedia on staffing, technology partners, and ad sales structure now that the transaction has closed. None of that detail is included in the current announcement.
