Carousel has added native device management and monitoring features for the Amazon Signage Stick, built on Remote Management APIs that Amazon Signage recently opened to authorized content management providers. For operators already running Carousel on Amazon's signage hardware, this means more device-level control from within the Carousel dashboard rather than needing separate tools to check on player health.

The update builds on a partnership between Carousel and Amazon Signage first announced in November 2025. According to Carousel's release, that collaboration was pitched around delivering "straightforward, dependable, and scalable" signage deployments. This latest step is described as deepening that integration by giving Carousel's cloud player access to management functions that live closer to the device itself.

John Reilly, chief operating officer of Carousel, said in the release that Amazon Signage opening its APIs to authorized providers "gave us room to build more deeply into the device itself." He added that the closer integration means new capabilities from Amazon Signage can be brought into Carousel directly as they become available.

What's actually new

The release is light on specifics. It says the enhancements provide "native management and monitoring features" and describes the result as "a more complete management experience from a single content management system," but it does not spell out which metrics or controls are newly available, whether this includes things like remote reboot, storage or network diagnostics, firmware update scheduling, or fleet-wide alerts. It also does not say when the features roll out to existing customers, whether there is any cost change, or how this compares functionally to management tools other CMS vendors have built for the same hardware.

Why it matters for operators

The Amazon Signage Stick is a relatively new entrant in the media player market, positioned as a low-cost, Amazon-backed alternative for CMS vendors to support. Opening Remote Management APIs to "authorized content management providers" signals Amazon wants third-party software vendors building deeper integrations rather than treating the Stick as a bare playback device. For operators evaluating hardware, deeper single-pane-of-glass management reduces the operational overhead of running mixed fleets, provided the actual feature set matches what's needed for monitoring uptime and catching failures before they show up on screen.

Whether Carousel's implementation covers the monitoring depth operators expect from established players like BrightSign or Google's signage-focused hardware remains unclear from this announcement. Buyers considering the Amazon Signage Stick paired with Carousel will want to ask Carousel directly what the new dashboard actually surfaces before assuming parity with more mature player management ecosystems.

The updates expand on the collaboration between Amazon Signage and Carousel, announced in November 2025, to provide straightforward, dependable, and scalable solutions, according to a press release.

The enhancements are made possible by Amazon Signage's Remote Management APIs, which Amazon Signage recently opened to authorized content management providers. Carousel used that access to add native management and monitoring features to its cloud player for the Amazon Signage Stick. The result is a more complete management experience from a single content management system.

"Amazon Signage opening its APIs to authorized providers gave us room to build more deeply into the device itself," John Reilly, chief operating officer of Carousel, said in the release.
