BrightSign Launches Premium Fleet Management Tier on AWS

BrightSign has launched a premium tier of its device management platform, called BrightSign Control Plus, built on Amazon Web Services. The product targets operators running digital signage networks that need more than basic monitoring, giving them a consolidated view of fleet status, health dashboards, automated alerts and AI-assisted diagnostics.
For anyone managing screens across retail, restaurant, corporate, healthcare or transportation sites, the pitch is fewer surprises and less manual checking. According to BrightSign, Control Plus supports simultaneous self-healing, software updates, bulk actions and job scheduling, and it is meant to scale from a handful of players up to networks of several thousand devices.
The AWS foundation is the other half of the announcement. BrightSign says building on AWS's infrastructure brings continuous security monitoring and consistent governance across its cloud environment, which it frames as reducing risk and helping maintain uptime. AWS also handles content storage and delivery, which BrightSign says removes capacity constraints for operators running more dynamic content.
This is a premium tier, which means BrightSign already has a device management offering and is now layering a higher-end option on top, presumably aimed at larger or more mission-critical deployments where downtime has real cost. The announcement does not specify pricing, how it differs feature-by-feature from BrightSign's existing management tools, or what the AI diagnostics actually do beyond aiding troubleshooting. It also does not say when the product becomes generally available beyond the launch itself, or which BrightSign player hardware generations are supported.
For operators already on BrightSign hardware, the move signals the company doubling down on cloud-based fleet management rather than building everything in-house, which is a common pattern in the industry as CMS and device management vendors lean on hyperscaler infrastructure for reliability and security compliance rather than maintaining their own data centre operations. Competitors in the device management space, including other CMS providers with their own monitoring dashboards, have taken similar routes to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud for the same reasons.
BrightSign chief executive Steve Durkee said running Control Plus on AWS lets the company offer reliable, secure, flexible and sustainable digital signage regardless of deployment scale, and gives customers visibility and control over their networks from anywhere.
For network operators evaluating fleet management tools, the key questions not answered here are cost, the specific SLA or uptime guarantees, and how the self-healing and bulk action features perform in practice at the thousand-plus device scale BrightSign cites.
