Barco Posts Mixed Q3 as Entertainment and Meeting Markets Soften

2026-10-21 · via DailyDOOH

Barco reported third-quarter results this week showing order intake of 215.7 million euro, down 3% year-over-year, as weakness in Entertainment markets and Meeting Experience offset gains elsewhere in the business. For operators and integrators who deal with Barco on the projection, control room, or cinema side, the numbers point to a company leaning harder on software and recurring revenue while traditional hardware segments soften.

Sales including VerVent reached 228.6 million euro, up 1% year-over-year, with growth driven by the Americas. Barco says recurring revenues now make up 13% of group sales, a figure the company is highlighting as it pushes what CEO An Steegen called "accelerating innovation and software penetration."

Where the growth and weakness sit

Control Rooms was the standout performer, with Barco crediting its CTRL platform for strong momentum. Healthcare was described as resilient, with sales in line with last year. Those two divisions offset softer results in Consumer Experience, Immersive Experience, and Cinema, where Barco says comparisons were difficult against a very strong quarter a year earlier. Meeting Experience continued to decline in what the company calls the "agnostic market," a reference to the broader collaboration and meeting-room hardware category where Barco competes without a captive platform advantage.

Steegen's statement frames this as a deliberate response to a "challenging market environment," citing organizational simplification and an active portfolio review alongside the innovation push. The release does not specify which products or business lines are under review, so it is not clear yet what gets cut, sold, or consolidated.

The order book stood at 553.9 million euro, 3% above last year, which gives Barco some visibility into near-term revenue even as quarterly intake slipped. Management is guiding to full-year sales slightly below last year's level, with an EBITDA margin around 11%.

What it means for the industry

For digital signage and DOOH buyers, Barco's results are a reminder that the company's fortunes are increasingly tied to Control Rooms and Healthcare rather than its historical strength in cinema and large-venue projection. The Cinema segment's softness this quarter is attributed to a tough comparison rather than a structural decline, and Steegen suggests the strong summer box office should help going forward, though the release gives no figures to back that expectation.

The announcement does not break out specific product launches, pricing, or timelines for the portfolio review, so integrators working with Barco's Entertainment or Meeting Experience lines should expect more detail as the review progresses rather than immediate changes.

Subdued Entertainment Markets For @Barco 3Q26

Barco (Euronext: BAR; Reuters: BARBt.BR; Bloomberg: BAR BB) this week announced results for the 3rd quarter ending 30 September 2026.

Barco CEO, An Steegen said “In a challenging market environment, we see mixed sales patterns across divisions. Control Rooms has strong momentum, Healthcare is resilient, and Cinema will benefit from the strong summer box office. As markets are weak, we are acting by simplifying our organization, actively reviewing the portfolio and accelerating innovation and software penetration. With these clear priorities, we remain fully focused on delivering on our strategy and 2026 deliverables.”

Order intake amounted to 215.7 million euro, down 3% year-over-year. Strong Control Rooms growth and stable Healthcare performance were offset by softer Entertainment markets and lower demand in Meeting Experience. The order book remained solid at 553.9 million euro, 3% above last year.

Sales including VerVent reached 228.6 million euro, up 1% year-over-year, driven by the Americas. Recurring revenues amounted to 13% of group sales. Growth in Control Rooms was fueled by the Barco CTRL platform. The contribution from Consumer Experience compensated for lower demand in Immersive Experience and also in Cinema, which compared against a very strong quarter last year. Meeting Experience continued to see a decline in the agnostic market, while Healthcare sales were in line with last year.

Management expects full year sales slightly below last year, with an EBITDA margin around 11%.
