Australian Out of Home Revenue Up 8.78% in Q3, DOOH Holds 77% Share
2026-10-14 · via DailyDOOH
Australia's out-of-home advertising industry posted net media revenue growth of 8.78 per cent in the third quarter of 2026, according to figures released by the Outdoor Media Association (OMA). Quarterly revenue reached $376 million, up from an adjusted $346 million in the same period a year earlier.
For operators and network owners, the headline number sits inside a bigger one: digital out-of-home now accounts for 77 per cent of total OOH revenue in the country, up from 76 per cent a year ago. That is a small shift in percentage terms, but it confirms a market where digital screens are no longer a growth category within OOH, they are effectively the category. Static formats are shrinking to a supporting role.
OMA CEO Elizabeth McIntyre attributed the growth to advertiser confidence in OOH as a broadcast-style medium that has not fragmented the way other channels have. She pointed to digital, data, dynamic creative and the industry's MOVE audience measurement system as factors making the medium "more measurable, accountable and responsive than ever," crediting member companies for investment and innovation. Those are claims made by the OMA on behalf of its membership, not independently verified figures.
The release notes that previously published revenue figures for the prior-year quarter were adjusted to reflect changes in OMA membership, meaning the year-over-year comparison is not a straight like-for-like calculation against what was originally reported for Q3 2025. The announcement does not say which companies joined or left the membership base, or how much of the adjustment affected the final growth percentage.
What the figures do not break out is where the digital growth is concentrated. There is no detail in the release on performance by format, such as roadside billboards versus transit, retail media networks, or place-based screens in venues. Nor is there any mention of average screen counts, programmatic buying volumes, or advertiser categories driving spend. For operators and media buyers trying to benchmark their own markets, the quarterly OMA report offers a useful top-line trend but little operational detail.
Still, an eighth consecutive quarter (based on the trend DailyDOOH has been tracking through 2026) of reported growth in a mature OOH market like Australia is a signal worth watching for digital signage and DOOH operators elsewhere. It reinforces the broader industry argument that digital conversion, dynamic creative capability, and standardized audience measurement continue to pull ad dollars toward screens, even as other media channels face more volatile buying patterns.
