Amazon has launched a 55-inch 4K UHD display built for digital signage, with a quad-core system-on-chip media player integrated into the panel. The Amazon Signage Display is listed at $699.99 on Amazon.com and is currently available in the US only.

For operators, the pitch is consolidation. Instead of running a separate media player box connected to a display by HDMI, the player lives inside the screen. Amazon includes Wi-Fi 6, a built-in Ethernet port, and Miracast support for wireless casting.

The display follows the Amazon Signage Stick, a dongle-style player Amazon introduced in 2024 at $100 and now listed at $151.99. That stick plugs into existing displays; the new product folds the same function into a complete screen, aimed at businesses buying new hardware rather than retrofitting a player onto a display they already own.

Amazon says the display is CMS-ready, and that any content management system already integrated with the Amazon Signage Stick will work with the new display without additional setup. David Lubinsky, senior technical product manager at Amazon, said businesses running the Signage Stick have told the company that managing a separate player and display "works, but sometimes it's more hardware than it needs to be."

What it means for deployments

The single-box approach addresses a familiar list of field failures: media players getting unplugged, HDMI cables working loose, input sources getting changed, or power supplies going missing. Wisar Digital, which supplies the white-label 42 digital signage platform and already supports the Amazon Signage Stick, has added management of the new display to its platform.

Kevin Goldsmith, partner and chief executive at Wisar Digital, said customers get "one box, one set-up" with the full 42 platform behind it, and that operators already running Signage Sticks with the company have nothing new to learn. He said the 42 platform running on the display supports drag-and-drop content design, playlist scheduling across locations, remote device restarts, screen on/off control, video screenshot capture, device health monitoring, and integrations with point-of-sale, event management and programmatic advertising systems. The platform also offers white-label deployment with a custom domain and 24/7 support, according to Goldsmith.

The announcement does not say whether the display will launch outside the US, what the SoC's processing specifications are beyond "quad-core," or which other CMS vendors beyond Wisar Digital have confirmed compatibility. It also does not address panel brightness, viewing angle, or warranty terms, details that commercial buyers typically weigh against dedicated signage displays from established hardware vendors.

The $699 4K UHD display extends Amazon’s reach beyond the Amazon Signage Stick, launched in 2024, and has been welcomed by Wisar Digital.

Amazon has launched a 4K UHD 55″ display aimed at digital signage, with a built-in quad-core system-on-chip (SoC) media player.

The product, which is available in the US, comes with Wi-Fi 6, a built-in Ethernet port for customers who need a wired connection, and Miracast support for wireless casting.

The 55″ display is listed on the Amazon.com website at $699.99.

The launch of a display follows Amazon’s introduction of the Amazon signage stick in 2024, which was priced at $100 on introduction and is now listed at $151.99.

Launching the Amazon Signage Display, senior technical product manager David Lubinsky said : “Over the past several years, businesses running Amazon Signage on the Amazon Signage Stick have told us the same thing in different ways: managing a separate media player and display works, but sometimes it’s more hardware than it needs to be.”

The display is said to be CMS-ready. If a CMS is already integrated with Amazon Signage Stick it automatically works with Amazon Signage Display, the company said.

The launch has been welcomed by Wisar Digital, which supplies the white-label 42 digital signage platform that already supports the Amazon Signage Stick.

Wisar Digital now offers management of both devices through the 42 platform .

Kevin Goldsmith, partner and chief executive at Wisar Digital, said: “A lot of signage deployments still fail for crazy reasons: a media player gets unplugged, an HDMI cable works loose, the HDMI source gets changed or nobody can find the power supply.

“The Amazon Signage Display takes those parts out of the equation. Our customers get one box, one set-up and the full 42 digital signage platform behind it – and anyone already running Signage Sticks with us has nothing new to learn.”

CMS integration Goldsmith said that with 42 digital signage running on the display, customers can:

Design content with a drag-and-drop board designer and schedule playlists across any number of screens and locations.

Remotely restart devices, turn screens on and off, capture a video screenshot and monitor device health from one dashboard.

Connect to dozens of point-of-sale, event management and programmatic advertising integrations, and manage retail media networks through the campaigns tool.

Deploy under their own brand with a full white-label capability, including a custom domain.

Access 24/7/365 global support, backed by automated monitoring alerts.
